Point of Interest:
What positions in the Air Force get paid the in the civilian sector?
I recently enlisted in the Air Force and I was looking at some of the jobs that are available. I want to get a job that (1) can carry over to the civilian sector and (2) that pays pretty well. I was told that Air Traffic Controllers are one of the highest paid positions that come out of the Air Force, but what else would be a good occupation to look into?
ATC is a good one but very stressful in the civilian world from what I hear.
Anything in the medical career field would also be good. Such as Dental Hygenist, Radiologist Technician, Labratory Apprentice, pharmacy tech.
Anything with computers is also good.
Civil Engineering jobs such as HVAC apprentice you can get out and work for an Air Condtioning & heating repair company.
You can also do Flight Attendant, you get sent to culinary schools get to fly all over . Once you get out you would transfer well into the corporate flight attendant world
If you go into Aviation maintenance, you'll get experience but you'll have to get an Airframe & Powerplant license to work at the airlines which the AF doesn't give you.
What ever you do, try and get some college courses knocked out while you're in and make sure to sign up for the GI Bill.
